Moonlight on Boston
By David H. McGrath

It was difficult to concentrate
As the light cascaded the buildings,
Drivers seemed to hesitate for a glance.
I periodically checked my rear view,
Hoping she was seeing this too,
I wanted to share it with her.
I imagined the moonlight glowing in her face
As we walked together in the Public Gardens.
I wanted to feel the reflection back on me,
A warmth like the midnight sun.
Full moonlight on Boston that night,
I want to be there again,
See that vision again,
With her again.

  Sand 360's
Sandy circles,
Shadows in the middle,
Letting the starlight in.
How the sun creates magnetic heat
With the beautiful sand.
The wish of walking,
Sinking my feet in the following grains.
Deeper in the shadows I stare,
Finding out what controls
The tides, temperatures, clouds,
These sight-circles
That distort, fake with play.
But off the parquet, the sand speak to me,
I feel their truth.
In subtleties I figure no quicksand,
Rather a sturdy beach.
Praying that the beach returns
My feelings.
I believe these sandy circles might.
